It's like he doesn't matter anymore. By now they'd be enough evidence in his docket to fill a filing cabinet. I'd be filling out reports to my arms. Mom. I ain't seen no paperwork, no nothing at night. I hear him muttering to himself in crying my daughter. I need to find her. It gets weirder. I want you to meet someone. Speaker 0 00:16:13 Squeaks. Demeanor goes grave in a way Claudia has not seen before he rises and gestures for her to follow him near a row of barracks, Claudia and squeak approach. Harvey Nolan, a SU jaded soldier. He takes the last drag of a cigarette and tosses it away. When they approach Speaker 10 00:16:35 This is private Harvey Nolan, his platoon covered the Eastern valley Nolan. This is the Lance corporal. I told you about Claudia Vasquez. Speaker 1 00:16:45 What you got. Speaker 14 00:16:47 So my unit was patrolling the outpost. When we came across a suspicious convoy outside of bizarre may be related to your guys' missing daughter. Speaker 1 00:16:57 You report it, Speaker 14 00:16:59 Debriefed the Sergeant. He ran it up the flag pole. So he said nothing asked about it. The next day I was told not to bring it up again. Speaker 1 00:17:11 You remember where Speaker 14 00:17:13 A few miles Southeast of Coate. Speaker 1 00:17:16 That's where we apprehended Kasi headed back. Anytime soon, Speaker 0 00:17:22 He gives her a nod. Speaker 1 00:17:24 Mind. If I tag along, Speaker 0 00:17:26 Nolan looks gravely. It's squeak then to Claudia, Speaker 14 00:17:31 Before you do, I need you to understand something. What you're about to see. You'll never be the same again. You won't eat the same. You won't sleep the same. Speaker 1 00:17:48 What are we waiting for Speaker 0 00:17:52 That night? A Hume pulls to a stop near a bizarre Nolan sits in the driver's seat. Claudia ride shotgun. While she surveys her surroundings. Nolan's eyes stayed trans fixed on a particular tent. Speaker 14 00:18:08 Booya Speaker 0 00:18:10 Her eyes follow his two armed figures, faces masks behind scarves, exit the tent ushering a group of 10 young girls blindfolded into the back of a truck. Claudia's heart sinks. Speaker 1 00:18:25 What the hell is this? Speaker 14 00:18:28 You ask me something far above our pay grade. Speaker 0 00:18:33 She reads her gear. Speaker 14 00:18:35 The hell you think you're going? Speaker 1 00:18:36 I'll cover there. Three. You picked the driver from below Speaker 14 00:18:39 And you're not going anywhere. Speaker 1 00:18:41 We just let 'em leave. Speaker 14 00:18:43 We've occupied this city for the last year and a half. This doesn't happen unless we already know it does Speaker 0 00:18:51 Claudia's eyes never leave the scene. The shakiness of the girl's steps, the tight blind folds from which dry tears escaped. She watches hopeless as the truck drives off. Speaker 1 00:19:06 We're complicit. Speaker 14 00:19:08 I reported it. They stonewalled me every step of the way was your guy CASMI really a terrorist or was he a witness? What are we doing here? Good Speaker 6 00:19:26 Question. Speaker 0 00:19:26 Claudia turns to find Anders and other soldiers, guns drawn beside their Hume. Speaker 6 00:19:33 Let's discuss it with pson back of the base. Speaker 0 00:19:36 She and Nolan raised their hands and surrender a trail of Humvees returned to base in the back of the lead. Humvee, Claudia and Nolan sit alone, driven by Anders. They converse and hushed tones. So it was not to be overheard. Speaker 1 00:19:52 Maybe there's a piece of the puzzle. We're not seeing. Speaker 14 00:19:56 I've tried to excuse it. Every which way my mind could. Speaker 1 00:20:00 Our government wouldn't tolerate that much less have handed it. Speaker 14 00:20:04 I wish I lived in that world, but I'm starting to think that world never really existed. Speaker 0 00:20:13 The Humvee pulls to a stop. Speaker 14 00:20:16 I'll keep the fire burning. I'll find those girls. You have my word. Speaker 1 00:20:24 How will I know you found them? Speaker 14 00:20:27 You'll know Speaker 0 00:20:28 His tone cracks a bit at the end, sounding like a very familiar voice. The back opens up in military personnel. Standby. Two of them grab Claudia and lead her in one direction to grab Nolan and lead him in another, in his office. Polson paces before Claudia who stands at attention, two guards occupy a corner of the room behind her. Speaker 9 00:20:55 Would you like to tell me how you ended up outside of our perimeter? Speaker 1 00:20:59 Kasi talked about his daughter going missing. I heard other women may have been taken and I wanted to look into it. Speaker 9 00:21:06 Kasi is an extremely dangerous terrorist and taking him out of the game was of utmost importance. Speaker 1 00:21:12 Yes, sir. However, his claims turned out to have been true. We witnessed people, girls being ushered blindfolded into a truck. Speaker 9 00:21:21 You don't know what you witnessed. I'm shipping your platoon out into the week. I'm having you secured in the Bri until then. And I won't hear you speak on this again. Not to me, your fellow Marines, not to anyone you understand. Speaker 1 00:21:37 Yes, sir. Speaker 0 00:21:38 Claudia is crushed as the guards approach from behind and lead her out late night in the Bri Claudia sits and stews and silence in her cell. 20 feet away. A guard is called out of view. Taking his place is Anders drunk and unsteady on his feet. He eyes Claudia with meez as he approaches Speaker 6 00:22:05 You think you're so smart. Speaker 0 00:22:07 She looks up just as he reaches our cell door. Speaker 1 00:22:11 Sir, Speaker 6 00:22:13 A recommendation for saving me. I look like I need saving. Speaker 1 00:22:19 You should get some rest, sir. Speaker 0 00:22:21 He raises a pair of keys in his hand, unlocks the cell door enters and shuts it behind him. Speaker 1 00:22:29 What are you doing? Speaker 6 00:22:31 I'm teaching you some respect. Speaker 0 00:22:33 He grips her hand. Speaker 1 00:22:35 What are you doing? Speaker 6 00:22:35 You're gonna learn your place. F kiss. Speaker 0 00:22:38 He pins her to the ground. Undos his pants, keeping his full weight on her. What Speaker 1 00:22:43 Are doing? Get off me. Get off Speaker 0 00:22:48 Present day. Gunfire permeates the air as bullets Pierce Sam's living room window. He Claudia, Frank and Martin all dropped to the ground. Ducking for cover. Sam crawl to the window and returns fire. Then rushes out the door. Frank and Martin exchange. Confounded looks as they see Claudia mumbling to herself in the corner. They approach her and try to pull her out Speaker 1 00:23:10 Of it. One, fix 300 meters, Northwest five packs, heavy machine gun, high value target. 100 meters out positive confirmation. Two o'clock 15 meters, one fix 300 meters Northwest five packs. He hears a car peel out and quickens his step into a full sprint. By the time he exits the building, the attackers have already turned a corner and disappeared. As Sam catches his breath. He notices a brick that smashed his apartment window. There's a message written on it. And he studies it. Squad cars and ambulances surround Sam's apartment complex. Captain Orson huddles with Frank Claudia, Sam Martin Orson holds the brick. Now in Scott, a plastic bag for evidence. He reads the bricks message allowed Speaker 15 00:24:24 Die, racist pig, nice penmanship, two attacks in 24 hours, Sam, same guy. You think? Speaker 16 00:24:34 Nope. Pretty sure. Why was the plant there don't know yet. We're hoping this will help Speaker 0 00:25:17 Orson hands the brick over to an approaching cop who in return hands Orson a tablet. He fiddles with the screen. Speaker 15 00:25:25 Any of these items look familiar to you. Speaker 0 00:25:28 Worsen hands the tablet over to Frank, Sam, Claudia and Martin gather behind him to view it. As Frank scrolls, they see photos of the government black site, close ups of the recovered nuclear device and its components. A key card that's burnt to a crisp and the piece of red fabric. Martin's eyes go wide at the key card. Claudia's reaction to the cloth is frozen to hide or surprise, but behind her eyes is in ye eager. New found sense of purpose. Frank is the first to respond. Speaker 15 00:26:03 No Speaker 1 00:26:03 Nothing. No, Speaker 17 00:26:05 I don't see anything. Speaker 15 00:26:08 Are you sure of that? Mr. Chen, take a good hard look. This silencing witnesses? Speaker 15 00:27:43 I will say this it's getting Meier and Meier. Frank. I just watched the playback of the interrogation. The driver mentioned something bigger, coming Speaker 16 00:27:55 Bigger than nuclear whackamole. Speaker 15 00:27:57 He knew who agent Brewbaker was. The bureau is not telling us something Speaker 18 00:28:03 Or brew. Baker's working his own self interest. Speaker 15 00:28:06 The voice said, we'll leave it up to the revolution. What do you think he meant by that? Speaker 0 00:28:12 Sam ponds something. Speaker 16 00:28:15 I need to see someone Speaker 18 00:28:16 I'll come with you. Speaker 16 00:28:17 You need to sober up. Frank. Speaker 15 00:28:19 I'll get you back. Safe kid Speaker 0 00:28:21 Oron guides. Frank to his car. Sam has back in his apartment in his apartment. Sam grabs a jacket heads for a locked cabinet and opens it, revealing an assortment of guns and ammunition. He selects a couple of guns pack of bullets and pockets. Both Claudia weaves in and out of traffic. Martin in the passenger seat holds on for dear life. Please Speaker 17 00:28:47 Be careful. Speaker 1 00:28:48 Relax, Marty. Just trying to get you to your misses. As soon as possible Speaker 17 00:28:53 Would just stop calling me. Marty. My friends call me that Speaker 1 00:28:58 Like the lady who just had you beat within an inch of your life Speaker 17 00:29:03 With some exceptions, Speaker 1 00:29:06 What the hell's got you so scared. Marty. Speaker 17 00:29:10 I'll tell you when I get my family, this won't end with us. You know, no matter what I tell you, Speaker 1 00:29:17 It's not just about what you know, it's about what we can piece together. Collectively. Speaker 17 00:29:22 You're not listening to me. If certain things get out. If certain people are revealed to the public, the system, this country and life doesn't even know, it will collapse. Speaker 1 00:29:32 That's a bit melodramatic. If one lone nut can bring down this whole country, we would've been wiped off the mat years ago. What happened to you? Marty? You seem like a nice young kid. How'd you get so deep. So soon in life, Speaker 17 00:29:51 I thought I was in control and that thought is being stripped away from me more and more each day Speaker 1 00:29:59 It's being stripped away from all of us. How much does your wife know? Speaker 17 00:30:05 Nothing? Speaker 1 00:30:07 Well, Ooh. Some explaining to do. We gotta disappear. Start over somewhere. You know the rules we disappear. He sets off a nuclear device who knows? Where, Speaker 17 00:30:20 What does that even mean? Everywhere you go, you are somewhere. What? We can't leave the city, the country, Speaker 1 00:30:28 You know what he means? We have to stay in our lives and deal with the fallout. There never was a safety net. Witness protection was never an option. We have a responsibility Martin and that goes beyond saving our own. S you understand that? Don't you Speaker 17 00:30:53 It's just up ahead. Speaker 0 00:30:55 She slows her speed. Claudia stops before the front door of a mansion. She hands Martin, her phone. Speaker 17 00:31:03 Give me 20 minutes. Speaker 1 00:31:05 10. Speaker 17 00:31:06 It's not just my wife. I have to deal with it's my father-in-law as well, Speaker 1 00:31:12 15, one second longer. I hobble your ass and drag you all out myself. Speaker 17 00:31:18 You really need help. You know that Speaker 1 00:31:21 If you don't hair your ass up, you're gonna need help. Speaker 0 00:31:24 Martin shakes his head and incredulously as he dials. Speaker 20 00:31:31 Hello? Speaker 17 00:31:32 Hey, I'm here Mimi at a door. Speaker 20 00:31:35 My father wants to speak with you. Speaker 17 00:31:37 Of course he does. Speaker 0 00:31:39 He hangs up and gives Claudia a look before he tossing her phone back in her hands, exiting the car and making his way to the front door. Angelo opens it and runs into his arms. When she pulls away, she notices the bruises on his face. Speaker 21 00:31:53 Marty, what happened? Speaker 17 00:31:55 I'll tell you in a minute, Speaker 0 00:31:57 Angela appears over his shoulder at Claudia who looks back with a cold stare. Speaker 21 00:32:03 Is that what's her name? Claudia. Speaker 17 00:32:07 That's her right? Speaker 21 00:32:08 Did she do this to you? Speaker 17 00:32:10 No. Although I don't doubt. She would come on. Speaker 0 00:32:15 Martin guides, Angela, back into the house. Claudia watches as the door closes. Orin's car stops near Frank's front door. Silence passes between them. Ms. Orin's searches for the words. Speaker 17 00:32:32 Have you spoken to Nora Speaker 0 00:32:34 Frank nods head lowered Speaker 1 00:32:37 Probably for the last time Speaker 18 00:32:40 I lost my daughter. Now my wife, I'm an embarrassment as a force. What do I have to look for? <laugh> Speaker 15 00:32:55 Don't do this to yourself. Frank. Don't let this voice win. The man. I knew he was a master at deescalation. He turned deadly standoffs into peaceful resolutions. He found a way when there wasn't one. That's the Frank. We all remember. That's the one we need right now. Speaker 0 00:33:17 Frank exits the car, doin leans over to the passenger window and studies Frank's face. Speaker 15 00:33:24 Hey kid, can I trust you alone? With that side arm? Speaker 0 00:33:30 He gestures to Frank's jacket where his gun is holstered. Speaker 18 00:33:34 I see you tomorrow. Kevin, we gotta find this on bitch. Speaker 15 00:33:39 Damn right. We do. Speaker 0 00:33:41 Frank watches. Oron pull away. He takes in the silent night for a moment before making his way up his walkway, fumbling through his pocket for his keys. As he withdraws them, they clumsily slip through his fingers and onto the walkway. He scoffs at his own inebriation. Justin, a Elias appears from behind a Bush by his front door, a gun drawn to Frank's head. As he approaches a Elias is sweaty, nervous and his gun shakes, UNS steadily. As he aims it, Frank slowly raises his hands. Speaker 18 00:34:21 Sorry. Speaker 22 00:34:23 Everyone gets to suffer because of you. I lost my job. I couldn't support my family. So they left me. You know what happened to me in jail? You know what happened to me in jail? Speaker 0 00:34:41 Frank's demeanor. Eases as if accepting his fate. Speaker 22 00:34:45 You gonna, you gonna talk me down Frank. That's what you did for a living, right? Go on, go on. Talk me down. Speaker 0 00:34:55 Frank, lowers his hands and takes a step closer to Elias. Elias looks confused as he takes a step back. Speaker 22 00:35:04 What are you doing? Speaker 18 00:35:06 You can say, I try to take the gun. Speaker 22 00:35:09 Are you crazy? Speaker 18 00:35:11 I'm tired. Speaker 22 00:35:13 I'll kill you. Speaker 18 00:35:15 I know Speaker 0 00:35:17 Frank takes another step toward Elis who doesn't budge this time. Eliss expression turns from vengeance to defiance. Speaker 22 00:35:27 You don't deserve an easy way out. Speaker 0 00:35:30 Elias turns the gun on himself. Speaker 18 00:35:32 No Speaker 0 00:35:32 Frank lunges for the gun and grabs it just as it fires, both hold onto the gun. As they drop to the ground, fighting for it. Once Frank Russells the gun away from his grip, Elias sleeps to his feet and takes off into the night. Frank lies on the ground exhausted as he cradles Elias's gun in the mansion. Foyer, Martin pleads his case to Angela's father who suppresses his rage as he listens Speaker 23 00:36:01 A bookie. Speaker 17 00:36:03 Yes, sir. A bookie. I made some bad bets and they came back to haunt me. I panicked and just wanted to make sure my family was safe. Speaker 23 00:36:12 You pay? Speaker 17 00:36:13 Yes. It's open taken care. Officer Speaker 23 00:36:16 Martin, you had one responsibility to take care of my daughter. You are a disappointment. If you fail her again, I will take care of you, myself. That understood. Speaker 17 00:36:28 Yes, sir. Speaker 0 00:36:30 He storms out of the foyer, throwing Angela disapproving glance on his way out. Once her father's out of view, Martin pulls Angela toward him. Speaker 17 00:36:39 Where's smiles. We're leaving. Speaker 21 00:36:41 Tell me what is happening. Speaker 17 00:36:43 I just did Speaker 21 00:36:45 Marty. I love you, but you are full of shit. I'm not going anywhere. And you tell me what you did. Why Claudia is here. And we are we going with our son? Speaker 0 00:36:56 Martin is cornered. He checks his watch. He's running out of time. Speaker 17 00:37:02 You remember my trip to Brazil? Speaker 21 00:37:05 Yes. With that client who called you Marty, I can still smell her desperate perfume. Speaker 17 00:37:11 Well, I thought I was a financial advisor for her real estate company. Speaker 21 00:37:16 You're not, Speaker 17 00:37:17 No. Their company is just a front organization Speaker 21 00:37:22 For what? Speaker 17 00:37:23 Illegal arms Speaker 21 00:37:25 Like prosthetic arms. Speaker 17 00:37:27 No like guns, illegal arms dealers. Speaker 21 00:37:30 What happened when you tried to leave Speaker 17 00:37:33 Angela? The money they offer me is set us up forever. Look at how we've lived for the last three years. It's the life you always wanted. Speaker 21 00:37:43 Marty, are you saying what you got? What you get caught? Speaker 0 00:37:49 That ladder question sends Martin's memory to a fateful evening in Brazil, a night in Brazil, Martin. Sabas his way through a crowded dance floor. Finishing off a drink, followed by the puff of a cigar. He plops onto a bar stool and attempts to get the bartender's attention. The bartender breezes by unaware, as he waits Annabelle 30 and stunning gives him a warm smile. As he sits beside him, Martin returns a flirty, one of his own. He swiftly puts out the cigar, Speaker 17 00:38:25 Where are my manners? Speaker 24 00:38:27 Right in place. It seems. Speaker 17 00:38:30 Can I buy you a drink? Speaker 24 00:38:33 No, but I can buy you one. Speaker 0 00:38:37 She gestures to the bartender holding up two fingers. Speaker 24 00:38:41 You stand out. What are you doing here Speaker 17 00:38:45 In town? On business, Speaker 0 00:38:47 The bartender returns with two shots. They toast and down them. Speaker 24 00:38:51 Let me guess oil take who? <laugh> Speaker 17 00:38:56 Financial analyst. I'm here to research some property Speaker 24 00:39:01 Really? Is that what you do? Or is that what you think you do? Speaker 17 00:39:10 What is this? Some sort of existential riddle, Speaker 24 00:39:14 More like a contradiction. How can someone in a squeaky clean position also be a dirty money laundering, criminal Speaker 0 00:39:29 Martin's joviality fades, realizing how serious a bell has become. She revels in the moment. Speaker 24 00:39:37 What is your relation to Vera Diaz? Speaker 17 00:39:41 She's my quiet. Speaker 24 00:39:43 <laugh> no, you are hers. Follow me. Speaker 0 00:39:50 She rises from her bar stool begins to walk, then stops and turns to face a confused and uncertain Martin who hasn't budged. Speaker 24 00:40:00 Mr. Chen, it's in your best interest to follow me. Speaker 0 00:40:06 He steps down from his bar stool with trepidation and cautiously follows. After her Annabelle leads Martin into a darkly lit private room illuminated only by a laptop, sitting on a coffee table, flanked by two semi circle couches on either side, random bodyguards are positioned throughout the room. She sits in front of the laptop and gestures for Martin to follow, which he does on the laptop. Displays a massive estate sitting on acres of land. Speaker 24 00:40:38 Assess the property in question, Speaker 17 00:40:41 I feel like I should have my lawyer present. Speaker 24 00:40:43 I am sure it's lovely. And Vera may even show you around. I mean, that is the parts that don't involve gun running. Now, accessory that carries a sentence of, well, I don't know, 15 to 20, your son would barely recognize you. By the time you get out, Speaker 17 00:41:04 Who are you? Speaker 0 00:41:05 She stands and places her hands in her pockets, which opens her blazer wide enough to reveal a CIA badge fast into her waist. He goes pale. Speaker 24 00:41:17 I'm your way out of this, Mr. Chen, your lawyer can't help you. He's the one who got you into this Albert. O'Malley correct. He put you in touch with Vera Speaker 0 00:41:28 Martin leaps to his feet, trying on confidence for a change. Speaker 17 00:41:33 I'm sorry. I don't know what you're looking for, but I can't help you. Speaker 24 00:41:37 Guns are not the only thing that Diaz's traffic. Mr. Chen, drugs, organs, people, children. Speaker 0 00:41:48 He's horrified at the thought Annabel's passion is palpable. Speaker 24 00:41:53 Now. I'm sure it's a lucrative offer to just play, make believe while you cover for the arming of your average neighborhood. Militia, no harm, no foul, right? I mean you haven't personally killed anyone, but that list I just read that could haunt a person's soul for life. Unless you don't have one. Speaker 17 00:42:17 I should get back. Now Speaker 0 00:42:20 She exchanges looks with her security. Then withdrawals a card from her pocket and places it in. Martin's Speaker 24 00:42:27 Give us a call. What's your in the middle of you're gonna need a friend could be worse. You could have no friends at all. Speaker 0 00:42:38 Unsteady on his feet. Martin cautiously exits Martin subdued, that hidden memory returning to panic mode. Speaker 17 00:42:47 We have to disappear. And I think I know someone who could help Speaker 21 00:42:51 The voice will set off a device. If we do. Speaker 17 00:42:53 I don't care. All I care about is my family. Speaker 21 00:42:56 I can't leave. My father. Speaker 17 00:42:58 We'll stand for him once we're safe. I promise. Speaker 21 00:43:02 What about Claudia? Speaker 0 00:43:04 His eyes wander. Searching for an answer. Then finding one. Speaker 17 00:43:10 We need to ask your father for a favor. Her Speaker 0 00:43:14 Underground in a police station, parking garage, officer Pope ambles to his squad car Speaker 24 00:43:20 Pope. Speaker 0 00:43:21 He turns and looks surprised to see Sam bruised and slightly limping heading toward him. Speaker 25 00:43:28 Hey there Sammy. Whoa. What I in here, Speaker 16 00:43:32 I need to get a hold of our venture contact Speaker 25 00:43:35 Venture industries you want to coughing with. Then Speaker 16 00:43:39 I can handle myself. It's connected to this voice. Bullshit. Speaker 25 00:43:44 Ah, your good friend, the voice you might wanna think about getting reassigned to another precinct. Max death just doesn't sit right with us. Speaker 16 00:43:55 Who's us Speaker 25 00:43:56 And anyone with respect for this uniform and what we sacrificed for the greater good Mac. Didn't see that in you. He thought about requesting another the partner. Did you know that you wasn't sure if you had his back, Speaker 16 00:44:14 I didn't set Mac up. You worried? I'm gonna find out who did or you worried what else I'm gonna find? Speaker 0 00:44:24 Sam holds a poker face, Pope in his stare before walking away, he stops to face Pope one last time. Speaker 23 00:44:31 Another thing I ever find you in my place again, maybe you don't leave with your life. Speaker 25 00:44:40 Not sure what you mean. Speaker 16 00:44:43 If you wanna attack someone anonymously, make sure you wear a different shitty aftershave, Speaker 0 00:44:50 But watches ominously. As Sam steps away, a field hospital in Afghanistan, nurse, Sophie enters a younger Claudia's room with her clipboard. Claudia is in a daze scars across her face, starting to heal. She sits up in her bed, bouncing a ball across the room. It routinely hits the wall and bounces back to her hand. She pretends not to notice as Sophie takes a seat beside her. Speaker 1 00:45:20 Oh, working out the south pole today, huh? Speaker 0 00:45:24 Sophie leans near Claudia's face. Hoping she'll be noticed this time. Claudia continues to avoid eye contact. Sophie grabs the ball before Claudia. Can Speaker 1 00:45:35 We gonna talk today? Vasque Speaker 0 00:45:37 Claudia maintains her distant gaze and tred in a self-imposed ball of silence. Sophie finally tires of it. Speaker 1 00:45:46 You think you're the only victim here? Claudia. It was an office party. He dropped something in my drink earlier. I didn't feel well. And he offered to take me home. I can remember trying to fight hands off my skirt. I, yeah, I remember the way he whispered, he said open your mouth. I tried to pull away. He pulled me tighter and he, he said, it's lower. Open your mouth. Speaker 0 00:46:41 Sophie's Claudia's full attention. Both coming to tears Speaker 1 00:46:45 Took years to admit what happened. And then what do they say? You should have said something sooner. He'd be honorably discharged. That's what I was told. How do you take someone's humanity and get to keep your benefits? And then you have to endure the accusations and retaliations for what? Being a victim. I shut down completely. After that, he gets to live on a full person and now I'm just a shell of one. But I learned, I, I may not be able to control what happened to me, but I control who I become as a result of it. And you do too. Claudia, you do two. Where is he now retired? A decorated veteran somewhere. Upstate last I heard. That's not the ending he deserves. Tell me about it. What was his name? Lieutenant general. Lou Erickson, Erickson. Speaker 0 00:48:18 Lou awakens in his living room bound to a chair, music bla loud enough to drown out any sounds. The neighbors could hear Claudia paces before him. Speaker 3 00:48:29 What do you want? Speaker 1 00:48:32 I don't want anything. In fact, this isn't even about me. Speaker 3 00:48:38 Well, who, what? Speaker 1 00:48:41 You know what? And you know who? Speaker 0 00:48:45 She walks behind him in knees. She withdraws and opens a pocket knife and places it against his pinky finger. Speaker 1 00:48:53 But to show how fair I am. I'll give you 10 guesses. Speaker 3 00:48:59 I don't know what you're talking about. Speaker 1 00:49:03 Now. You got nine Speaker 0 00:49:06 Lou cries. As Claudia slices. Sophie sits alone at her desk. One night studying her phone rings. She looks at the display grave. Concern takes hold as she answers. Speaker 1 00:49:24 Hello? Speaker 27 00:49:26 You told me I am in control of who I become. Well, that's not all I'm in control of Speaker 1 00:49:33 Vasquez. Are you all right? Speaker 27 00:49:37 It's done Speaker 1 00:49:39 What? What's done. Claudia. Claudia, what did you do? Speaker 27 00:49:45 I gave him the ending. He deserved Speaker 1 00:49:50 Ericsson. Speaker 27 00:49:52 You got a shovel. Speaker 1 00:49:55 Yes. Speaker 27 00:49:56 Meet me outside in one hour. Speaker 1 00:49:58 Claudia. Thank you. Speaker 0 00:50:03 Sophie rests back into her chair, fear and horror soon. Giving way to a peaceful relief. Claudia hangs up the phone as she sits in her car across the street. Ander's exits from a bar and a drunken stumble <laugh> and equally spirited woman under his arm. <laugh> he finishes a beer and tosses the bottle into the street. Claudia's eyes follow as Anders ushers. The woman into his passenger door jumps into the driver's side and takes off. Claudia starts her car and follows present day. Claudia sits in her car in front of the mansion, checking in with her parole. Officer Joe via FaceTime on her phone. Joe's tone is stern. As usual. Speaker 28 00:50:54 Your daughter knocked the fellow student out with the pinch to the shoulder at recess. Any idea wish she learned that Speaker 1 00:51:00 None whatsoever. Speaker 0 00:51:02 She says suppressing a prideful smile. Speaker 28 00:51:05 She's just a little woozy, but it could have been a lot worse. You don't want her to go down a road of violent behavior like her mother, do you? Speaker 1 00:51:12 I'm sorry. Are you my daughter's parole officer or mine? Speaker 28 00:51:17 I've been asked by the FBI to give you some leeway to help end this crisis. Otherwise, if were up to me, I'd have you wearing two ankle monitors. Speaker 1 00:51:26 Good thing. There's a terrorist on the loose then. Huh? Speaker 28 00:51:29 I've been monitoring you for four months now. Claudia and I don't see a hint of regret. Speaker 1 00:51:34 My time served was my regret and I did nothing wrong. I was found innocent and I've been exonerated. Speaker 28 00:51:41 You were found not guilty and that's not the same as innocent just because you avoided serious prison, time over a trial penalty. That doesn't mean I'm gonna be any less lenient on you as a ex convict. If not for the plea bargain, you'd be locked under the jail. Speaker 1 00:51:55 I was assaulted. Joe, do you have any sympathy for that at all? Speaker 28 00:51:59 Of course I do, but I can't condone you being a vigilante. I couldn't believe in my job. If I did. I know what you've done, Claudia. And when the world does too, you'll pay one way or another Speaker 0 00:52:11 Claudia sports. A curious look, miss she ponders that last thought Speaker 1 00:52:16 One way or another. I have to check on hunch. Jill, can I call you back? Speaker 28 00:52:23 You better. Speaker 0 00:52:24 Claudia hangs up and SCOs and the mansions direction from the mansions library, Martin Pierce out into the hallway. He observes anxiously. As Angela holds a hush tense conversation with her father who shakes his head. Behe evenly against her request. Martin ducks, back into the library and crosses to a window. He watches Claudia who sits in the car, FaceTiming Joe, his eyes land. Finally on a locked cabinet, containing a gun and rifle collection. Sam occupies his desk at the police station, tapping away at his keyboard. He opens and closes folder after folder until coming upon one labeled venture, he takes a casual look around for prying eyes before attaching a folder to an email and sending it. He shuts his laptop down and goes Angela rushes into the library. Speaker 17 00:53:25 I got the keys. Great. Come on. Let's get miles. Speaker 0 00:53:28 He takes her hand and whisks her out. Martin, Angela and miles move hastily into a garage lined with several expensive vehicles. Angela loads, the back of a Bentley with luggage. Speaker 17 00:53:41 Hurry. I am. Speaker 0 00:53:43 She likes miles into place and hers into the passenger seat. Before having a revelation Speaker 17 00:53:49 Miles sit back. Speaker 0 00:53:51 She makes her way back toward the house. Before she passes Martin, he opens the garage door. Revealing Claudia standing by is stole by her side, Speaker 1 00:54:02 Going somewhere Speaker 0 00:54:04 Martin and Angela are frozen in place. In a moment of desperation. Martin whips out a gun, pulls Angela in front of him like a shield and Aimes his gun at Claudia, just as she raises hers. Speaker 17 00:54:15 Marty Martin, what are you? Dream? Speaker 0 00:54:18 Martin drags. Angela to the driver's side door. Like a hostage keeping aim on Claudia whose aim unfortunately rests on Angela. Back Speaker 17 00:54:27 Up, back up, get back. Speaker 1 00:54:29 Damn it. Martin Speaker 17 00:54:30 Ma stop it. I'm getting outta here. That's all I want. Speaker 1 00:54:34 I can't let you do that. Speaker 17 00:54:35 The voice is bluffing. He won't set anything off. You Speaker 1 00:54:38 Don't know what the fuck he's gonna do. You're just a scared, selfish little shit. And you're gonna get thousands of people killed Speaker 0 00:54:45 Claudia searches for a hit, but finds none. Martin slips into the car. Speaker 1 00:54:51 Don't do this Speaker 0 00:54:52 As he starts the car and pulls angel in Claudia misses an attempt to clip Martin's leg in one swift move. Martin steps on the gas in reverse clipping Claudia with the open driver's side door and sending her rolling onto the ground. The Bentley's reaches off into the night, leaving Claudia arriving in pain and gritting her teeth. Frank is fast asleep in his bed. His phone rings and he gro answers. Speaker 29 00:55:25 Frank Frank Speaker 0 00:55:27 Sits at attention eyes wide open. Now Speaker 29 00:55:30 Did I awake you? Speaker 18 00:55:33 Who are you Speaker 29 00:55:34 Me? I'm nobody just a concerned citizen. And your biggest supporter. Speaker 0 00:55:45 Frank leaves the bed and wanders through his apartment, drifting from one room to another.
